I was interested in your comment that the leaves taste like rocket, which I absolutely love, much better than straight lettuce, so I might give them a try.

Thanks for the hint.

YvonneYvonne @ Fiction Books Reviewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14821114534056290177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958492963483272678.post-86153343784793333732011-08-08T15:28:15.728+01:002011-08-08T15:28:15.728+01:00Kelly: Yes, I have eaten them. Oh... go and look at Margaret's Saturday Snapshot photos!!! ;-)

Louise: 'Sunny and cheery' is a good way to describe nasturtiums. I see these lovely ones every time I open my bedroom curtains in the morning.

Trish: That's a nice idea. Ours seed themselves but I could easily dig a couple up and do that next year...

Kaye: Thanks! I hope you have a good weekend too. :-)

Lisa: I can't take much of the credit as my husband does most of the work. LOL.

Margaret: Our wet day is coming tomorrow apparently. Enjoy your relaxation time - you've earned it!

Carol: These sunflowers are my grandson's officially too. My husband bought 'tall growing' seeds and that's exactly what they've done - gone mad!

Jennifer: So it does. LOL. I wanted a fuller pic but the darn things are well over 10ft tall now and impossible for me to reach.

Laurel: I don't remember sunflowers from my childhood in Cornwall but I do remember a lot of nasturtiums everywhere.

Paulita: I agree, the colours are so startling. I think sunflowers like heat (they grow well in France) but am not so sure about nasturtiums.

Wanda: I love how small chidlren like to work in the garden. This time of year we can't keep our 4 year old grandson out of it. His two favourite jobs are picking the tomatoes and blueberries and 'digging holes'. Oh and searching for wood lice. LOL.

One thing I am looking forward to is seeing the birds on the sunflowers in the autumn.Cathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06371069000185280668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958492963483272678.post-15571268522900901622011-08-06T14:56:30.108+01:002011-08-06T14:56:30.108+01:00Nasturtiums are great for a childs garden with the...Nasturtiums are great for a childs garden with their vibrant colours and edible petals and leaves. Their seed size make them easy for little fingers to plant too, always a plus when working with children in the garden!

Don't know why I stopped planting sunflowers (probably the wind) but I used to love how the birds would flock to help clean up my garden in the fall.Wandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14647181404275808758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958492963483272678.post-56915943770896949092011-08-06T14:55:21.155+01:002011-08-06T14:55:21.155+01:00The color is so marvelous in both the sunflower an...The color is so marvelous in both the sunflower and the nasturtiums.
