I like the raven and the barren background, like Nymeth does.

I wonder which of us will get the second book first to read??! lol I'm already wondering if my library has it yet!

I really enjoyed doing this with you, too. And believe me, I can feel my age sliding into middle age because I forgot details and had to do go keep checking the book! Maybe we need to do what Ann (Table Talk) is doing and go back to school! I also love that we made Book-logged go buy the book already! I can't see how they can *not* be to be honest. And yes, that 2nd. book really appeals to me too... love a haunted house book.

Pat, I think I probably failed to notice translated books too, until recently. See... I completely forgot that the Inkheart books are translations.

And as to Thóra Gudmundsdóttir... you are actually right about that, in the end I managed to stop myself trying to pronounce it every time. I know what you mean too about remembering details, so this was a good exercise for my middle-aged brain. Heh, you do make me laugh...

Nymeth: I liked the other cover as I love pics of barren wastelands.

Val: I'm so glad you enjoyed this form of review - it was really fun to do.

Booklogged: this 'Buddy read' idea is great isn't it? Hope your tbr pile doesn't fall over...

I laughed at Deslily's comment too, she has a way of hitting the nail right on the head when it comes to getting older.Cathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06371069000185280668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958492963483272678.post-35481304950244405632009-08-25T21:31:01.557+01:002009-08-25T21:31:01.557+01:00I think this whole buddy-read idea is fun. One more book for the TBR pile!

Chuckled at DesLily's comment (so I wouldn't cry) because I think books are wasted on me, too. It's a sad thing when the mind starts going.Bookloggedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00651016653247142255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958492963483272678.post-12702945265474469142009-08-25T21:26:25.651+01:002009-08-25T21:26:25.651+01:00I enjoyed reading your review, I found it informat...I enjoyed reading your review, I found it informative and a pleasant read..more like listening in on a friendly conversation. Now I have to add the book to my tbr list as it sounds like an interesting read!
Thanks ValValhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03003915263556622215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958492963483272678.post-1115439663350079532009-08-25T19:30:32.743+01:002009-08-25T19:30:32.743+01:00As I was telling Susan, this sounds like my kind o...As I was telling Susan, this sounds like my kind of mystery! I saw your comments on the two covers, and I think I actually prefer this one.Ana S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16092495983972185943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958492963483272678.post-25898413474970199322009-08-25T11:44:46.815+01:002009-08-25T11:44:46.815+01:00Unless it's somehow told to me that a book is ...Unless it's somehow told to me that a book is translated I guess I would not really know! The only books I've read that I "KNOW" are translated are the Cornelia Funke Inkheart books translated from German.

As for that book you just read.. i chuckled to myself thinking that I would spend most of my time trying to continually pronounce: Thóra Gudmundsdóttir lol.. I liked seeing both of your responses, but I don't know I could do that.. I don't remember enough details that I'd be able to answer questions like that LOL.. i think books are fairly wasted on me! but i read them anyway~DesLilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02582481597658080464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958492963483272678.post-69951421530586919262009-08-25T02:37:29.213+01:002009-08-25T02:37:29.213+01:00It was very interesting to read the two answers to...It was very interesting to read the two answers to the same question. When I read books in translation, I worry that I am missing out on elements of the story. I don't believe I have read any books by any Icelandic authors. This may be a good place to start especially since I am intrigued by the second book being set in a haunted hotel.Stacyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12387313238448432017noreply@blogger.com
