More snow!

More snow for us this morning! It was forecast but I rather thought we'd just get a few flurries here in Devon, and not much else. Wrong.

The first few are from about eight to nine o'clock this morning:

And this is now:

There were real problems on the roads of Devon, first thing apparently, but it's melting fast and I would think it'll all be gone by the weekend.

It is really astonishing, isn't it Cath? We even had a few inches here in Braunton! Naturally, everything ground to a halt with no mail or newspapers.

So pretty!

I was flabbergasted, M. I know I kept saying that I didn't think winter had finished with us yet, but I didn't really expect another fall like we had before. Not in March... though I know it's far from unkinown for us to get snow in March. They mentioned on the local news that N. Devon had been hit again, hope you haven't been too inconvenienced.

It is pretty, Nymeth. Luckily, we didn't have to go anywhere today as getting down our drive was once more a real problem!

I see you are reading Moon Called! I will be interested to see what you think of it!

Since snow is a regular affair for me, I have to laugh at the response of some places to snow... I just take snow for granted. It is fun to see it from the view of people that haven't had to live with it for months out of the year, every year.

Kailana: I can already tell you what I think of Moon Called... I love it to bits. I'm almost finished but probably won't have time to review it until Sunday. In the meantime the 2nd. book is on the way from AM.

Yes, we are a bit daft over small amounts of snow in the UK. Even a just couple of inches brings the entire country to a standstill! LOL.

Cath,
I am sooo glad you enjoyed Moon Called! I love Patricia Briggs. I recommend when you get all caught up in that series, you read her other series. There's the one short story in 'On the Prowl' and then 'Cry Wolf'. Book two in the series will be out this summer. Same world, but told from different viewpoints. Cross over characters, though. Briggs said that Mercy won't be in that series and vice-versa.

I just had a look at the other series... it's the Alpha Omega series you mean isn't it? Those look intriguing too and I'm sure I'll move on to those after the Mercy Thompson books. I just ordered Iron Kissed, the third in that series, after reading that something pretty terrible happens at the end. Oh my. I want to know and yet I don't! I just hope Adam makes it...

wow, more snow for you! It is pretty, but I can imagine how you must feel, you should be well into your spring flowers now and green on the trees. It is astonishing. you look like us over here in Canada1 Love the view of the hills, by the way :-D

I just read all the Mercy Thompson comments. I've ordered books two and three also, hopefully will be here very soon. I really like this series. I can't decide between Samuel and Adam, though I think I lean towards Samuel a little bit - he's a white wolf, and all those kids he lost *sniff*

Susan, I'm sure we've had nowhere near as much snow as you get but it seems a lot for us when we generally get very little here in the SW. Spring is advancing though. We have daffoldils in bud in the garden and helebores in flower. And despite the white world it was a beautiful day today.

I can see that Mercy will have a very difficult choice. Samuel is lovely too and I also feel sorry for him with losing all those children. But I don't know... I *really* like Adam, though I can't say why precisely. I seem to be getting rather hooked on werewolf books though!

It is so beautiful! Maybe after this winter the country will invest in some salt or snowplows or extra sand? Employment opportunities abound! And people will buy snow tires which will bring another business to light. :<)

All this snow, and in the most unlikely of places (or do you usually get snow?). I keep wondering if Spring is ever going to get here!

Nan, I certainly think this winter will change the thinking of the local authorities. They might say that this year was just a blip but if they're sensible they'll at least make sure we have enough *salt* next year! And of course, there is one school of thought that suggests that with global warming will come much more severe winters in the UK. Something to do with how the Gulf Stream is altering its course I believe. It keeps our winters mild, otherwise we'd have the same kind of winters that they get in Newfoundland. It certainly is complicated!

No, Danielle we don't usually get this much snowfall in the winter. Wet and mild is more normal, with the odd cold and frosty snap. This year has been very unusual and the authorities have really been caught napping.
