I've been reading the same book for over a week now - not that it isn't good, it's excellent, it's just that I've been busy and the book is not a quick read. Anyway just so that I post about something here're a few photos of Exmoor that I took while out and about last week.
A spot called Landacre bridge. It was a lovely peaceful day there that day but it can get quite busy there with tourists and traffic.
Upstream.
Downstream with the addition of a few cows.
The rather stunning display of gorse.
Running down into the village of Withypool.
The bridge at Withypool. Exmoor is chock full of these gorgeous old bridges. They're usually centuries old and very picturesque.
Underneath the arches...
One of those tunnels made of hedges which I absolutely love.
Withypool post office and stores.
The bridge from the other side.
The kind of mossy, stone wall I love.
The village church.
The pub where we had lunch - The Royal Oak at Withypool.
Inside said pub.
One of the views on the way home. Pretty much typical of the moors in this country, although Exmoor is slightly more cultivated (farmed) than many others.

Lovely photos - and a beautiful sunny day.
It was a gorgeous day, Margaret, although there was a chilly wind. It was a week ago yesterday and I don't think we've had a really nice day since, so we were lucky and timed it just right.
One of my favourite places to visit on Exmoor, Cath. Perhaps the Devon bloggers might have that long-awaited picnic there, should we get a summer this year.

Ahhh, you British with your beautiful countryside and charming villages.....I'm so jealous.
Lovely pictures! Now I want to come visit!
Gorgeous as always :) Thank you for sharing!
Maureen: Our weather seems to be following the same pattern as last year with a lovely spring, followed by an indifferent summer, although, admittedly, it is a bit early to tell yet. If you haven't been to The Royal Oak I can recommend it - the food is excellent.
Tara: we do have nice countryside in the UK... but I also love American scenery and would be over there like a shot if we could.
Kailana: glad you enjoyed them.
Nymeth: my pleasure, pleased you enjoyed them.
Thank you for sharing these photos! This is a part of England I've never been to - but always wanted to visit.
Margaretha
Hello Margaretha! Delighted that you enjoyed my amateur atempts at photography. Luckily the scenery speaks for itself.
England is such a beautiful country... And those are some very beautiful photos you've taken indeed! Thank you for sharing. ^-^
Shanra: hi, thanks for visiting my blog. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed the photos.
Oh my gosh, what a gorgeous place! I could see myself sitting along the water reading a good book and just soaking in the beauty! Great pictures!
Thanks, Carl. I'm glad you liked the pics. Oh yes... it would be a *wonderful* place to sit and read with all that beauty around.
Wonderful! I spent much of my teens and early adulthood on Exmoor. Love it so much - must get down there again. Must also include it in my blog! Johnson
Johnson: Thank you! It's a stunningly beautiful area and I feel very privileged to live so close by.
