Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.

Our first sunflower.

Nasturtiums have to be among my favourite flowers. Such varied and gorgeous colours and you can even eat them: both flowers and leaves are lovely in salads.

Some lovely shots of your garden there. I like nasturtiums too- so sunny and cheery.

Two of my favorite flowers. I especially love nasturtiums in an outdoor basket or pot so that their vines and flowers tumble over the side. So pretty!

Such lovely sunny photos! It's pouring down here today, but quite muggy.

Have a great weekend - we're relaxing now the grandchildren have all gone home.

Lovely photos.

AJ has a sunflower he planted. It is on full flower but did not grow very tall. It has the sunniest spot. :)

I love the one with the sunflower - looks like it is mopping its "brow" with a leafy hand.

I do love sunflowers (and nasturtiums!). But the sunflowers remind me of my childhood gardens that seemed to be filled with sunflowers.

Thanks for sharing.

Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT

The color is so marvelous in both the sunflower and the nasturtiums. My mums are already blooming. I'm not sure why since it's so hot.

Nasturtiums are great for a childs garden with their vibrant colours and edible petals and leaves. Their seed size make them easy for little fingers to plant too, always a plus when working with children in the garden!

Don't know why I stopped planting sunflowers (probably the wind) but I used to love how the birds would flock to help clean up my garden in the fall.

Pat: Coward! Heheheheh. Oh... go and look at Margaret's Saturday Snapshot photos!!! ;-)

Louise: 'Sunny and cheery' is a good way to describe nasturtiums. I see these lovely ones every time I open my bedroom curtains in the morning.

Trish: That's a nice idea. Ours seed themselves but I could easily dig a couple up and do that next year...

Kaye: Thanks! I hope you have a good weekend too. :-)

Lisa: I can't take much of the credit as my husband does most of the work. LOL.

Margaret: Our wet day is coming tomorrow apparently. Enjoy your relaxation time - you've earned it!

Carol: These sunflowers are my grandson's officially too. My husband bought 'tall growing' seeds and that's exactly what they've done - gone mad!

Jennifer: So it does. LOL. I wanted a fuller pic but the darn things are well over 10ft tall now and impossible for me to reach.

Laurel: I don't remember sunflowers from my childhood in Cornwall but I do remember a lot of nasturtiums everywhere.

Paulita: I agree, the colours are so startling. I think sunflowers like heat (they grow well in France) but am not so sure about nasturtiums.

Wanda: I love how small chidlren like to work in the garden. This time of year we can't keep our 4 year old grandson out of it. His two favourite jobs are picking the tomatoes and blueberries and 'digging holes'. Oh and searching for wood lice. LOL.

One thing I am looking forward to is seeing the birds on the sunflowers in the autumn.

I love sunflowers! I intend to plant them every year and have only remembered once.

I have heard that nasturtiums are edible, but I've never tried them before.

Terrific photos!

Here is my Saturday Snapshot post!

Vicki: I'm so glad. :-)

Alyce: Nasturtiums are quite nice, especially the leaves which taste peppery and go very will with other green leaves in a salad.

Diane: Thank you!

Sue: A second one is in flower now but pointing away from us at a neighbour's house. Cheek.

gautami tripathy: Thank you. I'll go and look at yours in a moment.

I love sunflowers... they always look so bright and happy. And the birds love them too.

Cath said...

Leslie: Me too. And it's always fun to see how tall they will grow.

Oh so gorgeous Cath. Have you eaten them? What do they taste like? They must make for a lovely salad :D

Cath said...

Kelly: Yes, I have eaten them. The flowers don't taste of much but the leaves taste a bit like rocket or water cress. A nice bite to them. If you're doing a special salad for visitors then putting nasturtium flowers all over it makes it look really beautiful. :-)

Hi Cath,

I love the golds, yellows and oranges, my favourite colours.

Sunflowers look so bright and happy, however I am not that keen on such tall gangly flowers in the garden.

I had heard that nasturtiums were completely edible, although I have never tried it myself. I was interested in your comment that the leaves taste like rocket, which I absolutely love, much better than straight lettuce, so I might give them a try.

Thanks for the hint.

Yvonne: Tall and gangly is right, my husband measured the tallest last night abd it's over 12 ft! We have a row of them along the fance and they're resembling a hedge.

Always good to give new things a try I think. Though I make an exception for shell-fish and tripe...
