I see I haven't posted here in several weeks. Which was unintentional but due to a bad back and the time of year. I have been reading, in fact I read two of my favourite books of the year this month,
The Black House by Peter May and
Drood by Dan Simmons. Hopefully I'll have time to post about those after Christmas, as they were - for me - exceptional books.
In the meantime I want to take a moment wish everyone who visits my blog, those who comment and those who don't, a very Merry Christmas indeed.
For some reason I always think of The Wind in the Willows as a Christmassy book and this snowy illustration from it is one of my favourites. A Happy New Year and I hope 2013 is a better year all round.

Merry Christmas Cath :)
Merry Christmas, Cath.
I hope your back is on the mend - it's not the best time of year to have a bad back, but I suppose that goes for most months!
Here's hoping 2013 will be a better year all round.
Sorry about the back...you are quite right Wind in the Willows is Christmassy :0)
Have a lovely Christmas Cathxxx
Have a lovely Christmas, Cath, and I hope 2013 will be a good year!
Merry Christmas to you as well Cath and a very happy new year as well!
Merry Christmas, Cath!!
I love the bit where Mole and Ratty visit Mole's old home, and entertain the carol singers with a Christmas feast and mulled wine.
Happy Christmas and best wishes for the year ahead.
Merry Christmas Sis!! I hope your Holidays are full of fun and laughter and your new year filled with more fun and laughter and good health of course!
Merry Christmas to you and yours too!
That is one of my favorite illustrations as well, Cath. I love The Wind in the Willows!
I hope your Christmas was merry, that your back is better, and that you have a wonderful, healthy New Year.
Lovely picture - I think of it as Christmassy too. Wishing you a happy and reaceful new year!
Hi Cath,
I do hope that your back problems didn't spoil your Christmas too much and that you have a fantastic New Year.
I haven't been on the blog very much just lately either, as we have been on holiday in Florida for most of December and only got home today.
I am ashamed to say that I hardly read a word whilst I was away, which isn't a good sign!! I am hoping that when things get back to normal and the jet lag disappears, I shall get my reading mojo back!!
Yvonne
Thanks everyone. Hope you did all have a nice Christmas... we certainly did. The family have been staying and it's been lovely.
Thanks also for the well wishes about my back, I start physio for it on the 14th. January.
Haven't done very much reading over the Christmas but I did get some great books for presents. Will be blogging about those asap.
Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas to you and Peter, Cath. I hope your back feels better soon, what a time for it to go out! I've had it happen, so I know how painful it is too. At least it's let you do some reading, and I have to agree with you on The Black House, which I read in November. An excellent mystery! I am currently in Drood, and wondering if I should try to read it now or wait til January and have it count as something on my shelf for over a year.
Susan: Thank you. My back doesn't feel too bad at the moment but I have a sneaky suspicion I haven't seen the last of the problems so am hoping the physio will help solve the problem. We'll see.
The Black House was an amazing book. As you saw it made my top 6 of the year for fiction. I have book 2 on my Kindle, my husband got it from the library and has aready read it, he says it too is excellent.
