I haven't done the Mount TBR challenge for a couple of years so thought I'd return to it for 2023.
As always it's being hosted by Bev at MY READER's BLOCK and for the sign-up post and more details visit THIS POST.
The Challenge levels are as follows:
Pike's Peak: Read 12 books from your TBR pile/s
Mount Blanc: Read 24 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Vancounver: Read 36 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Ararat: Read 48 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Kilimanjaro: Read 60 books from your TBR pile/s
El Toro*: Read 75 books from your TBR pile/s (*aka Cerro El Toro in South America)
Mt. Everest: Read 100 books from your TBR pile/s
Mount Olympus (Mars): Read 150+ books from your TBR pile/s
I'll be doing Mont Blanc, 24 books, with the option to move up if I get there too quickly. I've picked out some older books from my tbr mountain and a few newer ones and have tried to mix the genres up a bit too.
That little lot should keep me busy for a while. LOL! Of course I should also add that an entirely different set of books may well get read for this challenge. I'm excellent at changing my mind and going off on tangents I never even knew existed.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas? I had a couple of nice books given to me plus I bought a couple for myself, so I'll post about those later.
Happy New Year!

Love the idea of TBR mountains of different heights!
Enjoy your own mountain!
I really like that idea of using a challenge like this one to do something about the never-ending TBR, Cath. It's so easy to get distracted by new books or by books on the wish list that it can be hard to remember to go after the TBR, too. I wish you good luck meeting the challenge!
It's good to have a reading challenge that lets you change your mind and books according to your mood. I think we all have TBR mountains we need to tackle. I tried to do a TBR challenge this past year and totally tanked on it. Maybe I'll do better at reading my own books next year. Good luck with this challenge...and Happy New Year! :D
Sue: The mountains idea is great isn't it? I'm hoping to do a bit better than Mont Blanc though.
Margot: I'm hoping to make some impact on the very elderly books I've had knocking around for 10 years or more. This is the problem, I do get distracted by new books, or ones recced by bloggers like yourself.
Thanks for your good wishes.
Lark: Oh yes, I do prefer flexible book challenges where it doesn't matter if you change your mind about what to read. I did very well with reading my own books this year and am hoping to repeat that in 2023.
Happy New Year to you too!
I do this one on Goodreads and I actually did meet my goal of 48 books from my TBR this year, maybe a first for me. I am doing it again at the same level, although I would like to go past it this year.
Well done on achieving your goal of 48 books! That's superb! Yes, I'd like to go well past 24 books but I thought I'd start low and see where I go. Or I could leave it at 24 and make sure I read 24 'long' books to get them off the tbr pile.
I did not even think to factor in longer books. Probably because I have an allergy to longer books, which is silly because some of them are wonderful. I would like to read a lot of novellas in 2023, but I failed at that in 2022.
I vote for The Winter Sea to be first in 2023! I love that book so much. I was very flattered when the author put a quote from my review on her blog years ago.
Tigana was the first book I read by Guy Gavriel Kay, although I don't remember it. My mother is a huge GGK and gave two of his books to my nephew for Christmas.
I have three days off! Hooray!
Happy New Year!
Even if I was going to be signing up for any challenges, which I'm not, it definitely wouldn't be this one.
Earlier this year, I decided to make inroads into the physical TBR piles of books on my shelves! That didn't go too well, as I only managed two of them, before getting overwhelmed with new Kindle additions which grabbed my attention! Maybe I could manage a 'step up the mountain challenge' :)
I look forward to following your progress and wish both P and yourself a Happy and Peaceful 2023 x
Happy New Year! Going off on unknown tangents is what makes reading fun! 😂
Tracy: Yes, I too have a slight allergy to longer books, partly I think because sometimes they're so long they're the same length as three shorter ones but still only count as one. I need to rid myself of that way of thinking and get on and read some of them! The Count of Monte Cristo for instance, Our Mutual Friend... like you said, they're probably 'wonderful'.
Constance: I'll be getting to The Winter Sea very soon but it probably will not be my first read of 2023. Not even sure what that will be yet, I keep deciding and then changing my mind. LOL!
Tigana is definitely going to be a 2023 read. I've heard such good things about it.
Enjoy your 3 days off! I just emailed you.
Yvonne: Oh yes, Kindle reads are definitely my weakness and exactly the reason why I don't get enough books read off my physical tbr mountain. I really love reading on my Kindle Fire and have been known to shove the physical copy of a book into the charity shop box, buy a cheap Kindle version and read that instead. LOL
Thanks, Yvonne, and Happy New Year to you and D. :-)
Fiction Fan: Thank you. Oh yes, tangents are wonderful especially when the subject is very unexpected. I went looking for books on leprosy the other day after reading Mark Twain's comments about it in his book, Following the Equator.
I should do this challenge! My TBR is, as always, overwhelming. Last year I rearranged the unread-books shelves in my room so all the ones that are also on my blog's TBR list, would be on top. Still haven't made much of a dent there. I used to do the Dare.
Jeane: I felt it would be a good idea to target certain books for this challenge. How long that will last I don't know but that's the plan!
