The Heart of a Child challenge

What could be more charming than a lovely reading challenge called The Heart of a Child?

It's all very simple. Choose 3 to 6 books that you read as a child (any age up to 18) that you would like to revisit. Read them between the 1st. February and the 14th. July 2008. Comment occasionally on your progress.

The challenge is being run by Becky at Becky's Book Reviews and the link for the challenge is here.

I've chosen a pool of six books to read from, books I absolutely adored as a child.

Five Children and It by Edith Nesbit
The Valley of Adventure by Enid Blyton
The Castle of Adventure by Enid Blyton
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
Minnow on the Say by Philippa Pearce

Just one is overlapped with another challenge and that's Anne of Green Gables which I'm also reading for the What's in a Name challenge.

I'd love to do this one, if I didn't have so many others going. That Becky! She's great. Two of my challenges come from her. :<) I love Anne of Green Gables and Minnow on the Say. I'm reading The Story of the Treasure Seekers by Nesbit for the Young Readers Challenge.

oh my! lol , I can't believe you are doing another challenge! I don't know how you do it! I know you are on the go much with your brother and just life in general.

you know what books I remember reading??.. now don't laugh!.. I read zane gray westerns! Must have been because they were around because I know we couldn't afford to buy books! lol

Nan: The E. Nesbit books are wonderful. I devoured the Psammead trilogy avidly as a young teenager. I don't believe I've ever read The Story of the Treasure Seekers though, so I look forward to your review of that one.

No, Pat, I don't believe I'm doing another challenge either. *But* the situation with my brother is now temporary, several weeks should see that easing off. Fingers crossed. Plus, I felt this challenge, like you with the dragon one, was a bit of a no-brainer. I planned to read three of the books this year anyway, the two Enid Blytons and Minnow on the Say and those three will complete the challenge if I don't have time to read any more. We'll see. It'll be fun trying anyway.

Zane Gray westerns! Good heavens. I used to see them in the library but never though of trying any. Perhaps I should have as I loved westerns as a kid.

This is tempting. I think I'll go for this as well - I really loved the Katy books and Heidi when I was little and still have the books.

Booksplease: I also loved the Katy and Heidi books when I was I child. I didn't think of those when I was deciding on books for this challenge. Never mind. I know I desperately wanted to be Heidi; her life with her grandfather (?) in the mountains, was my idea of absolute heaven. Look forward to seeing your list if you decide to go for it.
